How this works
- Your image is sent securely to our server, compressed, and sent back to you.
- The file is processed in memory and never saved to disk or stored anywhere — it's discarded immediately after your download starts.
- Output stays the same format you uploaded (JPEG in, JPEG out; PNG in, PNG out; WebP in, WebP out) — one exception: HEIC photos (the iPhone default) convert to JPEG, since HEIC is already so efficient that converting it to anything lossless would usually make it bigger, not smaller.
- Very large images are also resized down to a sensible maximum resolution, which is usually where most of the savings come from.
Before you upload
Unlike our fully client-side tools, this one does send your file to a server for processing — so please don't upload images containing highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, or legal information you wouldn't want to send over the internet to any service. For routine photos and graphics this is perfectly safe; we just believe in being upfront about what "compress" actually involves here.
